This is such an amazing topic, knowing that i've always been drawn to our magical world. I do think that it is amazing that they are numbers of human that able to trick us into their world, and even when we know we are being tricked, often we can't see how they doing it. I respect their capabilities of how they can manipulate of what we perceive the world around us by c
it was also very interesting to know that people who had trouble reading body language cues were not fooled by the magic, the illusion world! Oh, so then i looked up in the wikipedia for the word "illusion" which has a very interesting way of interpretation that it is a distortion of the senses, revealing how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation. While illusions distort reality, they are generally shared by most people. Illusions may occur with more of the human senses than vision revealing how the brain normally organizes and interprets sensory stimulation.
Some illusions are based on general assumptions the brain makes during perception. These assumptions are made using organizational principles, like Gestalt, an individual's ability of depth perception and motion perception, and perceptual constancy. Other illusions occur because of biological sensory structures within the human body or conditions outside of the body within one’s physical environment,,mmm.
For the article on the memory, even more deeper meaning; the world hangs on a thin thread and that is the psyche of man.. So the blog assignment referred to how might I view things differently now? Well,surely there is lots of things going on 24 7 all around us, what the beep do we know? there is things that we are familiar with and there isnt, so i guess whatever isnt is a magic or another word illusion.. The informations which i may or may not perceived all at once..ehy. but am sure if i wait long enough with all my patient, then the answer may reveal on its on , again like a magic..mmm hope am making sense here..

week eleven
Describe connections you are making between cell biology and your TCM studies.
This is indeed difficult task for me, esp. missing out all those classes, and havent yet started the TCM theory classes. So on, I feel resistant at this time to make any connection , and somehow I feel that there isnt much art to cell biology itself, and was a reason why am stydying TCM instead.
But anyway and overall, the knowledges of the parts of the body helps for a better understanding of the whole body system.. and sure there are links of all togetherness..

week ten biodiversity
Biodiversity in my surroundings
I live in an urban cottage, surrounded by big hugh native palm trees outside my living room windows on a nice garden or courtyard (mainly why am here) and several other species. Pine trees, manzanita trees, redbud are what's growing naturally, then there's lemon trees , jasmine, geraniums, chives, roses, all kinds of different things in my neighbor's garden. And luckily with all of those trees we get lots of bird coming to visit and sing a love song for us. Also I planted lavender, shrub , jubilee outside my house at the front yard, and luckily they are blossoming. Inside the house I have an indoor palm trees , cactus, sweet basil, baby mints, and other baby herbal plants on its way for yummy food..
My neighbour has four chikens in my backyard, they eat all my produce waist and make a great recycling left over produced. He shared us eggs time to time. Not a whole lot of insects around , but there are spiders here and there, esp. where my office table is. There're some ants and the fruit flies in the kitchen, and those spiders doing there job pretty well lately.

week nine chemistry of life
Gene therapy
I looked gene therapy up on wikipedia, and the lists other issues with gene therapy and reasons it may not work so well, including the fact that it has caused deaths.
I think as a human family, we should focus on prevention and healthy balanced living in harmony with the environment, so that we do not create so many toxic situations that cause disease instead of these highly technical fixes that treat the human body like a machine.
The bottom line is that the gene therapies are being developed through use and abuse of innocent animals, I think better if we could just let some things be. It’s not quite right having to test products on animals, so abusive, and perhaps people could connect back to our roots more on searching a better ingredients and substances of resolving things.

I viewed the animation, its fun to see them all in 3D. The chain reaction animation reminded me of a video game. Great example of a chain reaction, chemically!
Definitions of the “Chemistry of Life”
Relationship to other "molecular-scale" biological sciences "Biochemistry is the study of molecules in the absence of the rest of the organism." and I thought THAT's why I wasn't previously interested in chemistry.
. Looking at living systems at the molecular level, researching diseases to find cures, the biochemistry of viruses, describing the molecular basis of living systems, now I understand , its not too bad having to study the Chemistry.
The increased of understanding on what biochemistry is sure giving me a nice feeling of a whole!

It is much more important to the metabolism of plants, particularly many grasses, and silicic acid (a type of silica) forms the basis of the striking array of protective shells of the microscopic diatoms.

i did try many time to open all those links but NO possible...!
but anyway, i went to another sources then found out that I thought I understood it in the class but still got confused after reading all those articles, my brain is fried on this mole thinging... the more i read the more i fried... esp. the concept map is on its way..
what I think I understood in the class was that to calculate how many molecules, just take the molecule weight of an element then multiply by Avogadro's number, then u get the mass in grams...
mmm, I'm feeling a little lost in transition. I'm going to walk through everyone else's blog now!

Alkali earth metal
Magnesium is a chemical element with the symbol Mg, atomic number 12, atomic weight 24.3050 and common oxidation number +2.
Magnesium, an alkaline earth metal, is the ninth most abundant element in the universe by mass. The commonness of magnesium is related to the fact that it is easily built up in supernova stars from a sequential addition of three helium nuclei to carbon (which in turn is made from a single reaction between three helium nuclei at once). Magnesium constitutes about 2% of the Earth's crust by mass, which makes it the eighth most abundant element in the crust. Magnesium ion's high solubility in water helps ensure that it is the third most abundant element dissolved in seawater.
Magnesium is the 11th most abundant element by mass in the human body; its ions are essential to all living cells, where they play a major role in manipulating important biological polyphosphate compounds like ATP, DNA, and RNA. Hundreds of enzymes thus require magnesium ions in order to function. Magnesium is also the metallic ion at the center of chlorophyll, and is thus a common additive to fertilizers.Magnesium compounds are used medicinally as common laxatives, antacids (i.e.,milk of magnesia), and in a number of situations where stabilization of abnormal nerve excitation and blood vessel spasm is required (i.e., to treat eclampsia). Magnesium ions are sour to the taste, and in low concentrations help to impart a natural tartness to fresh mineral waters.
The free element (metal) is not found naturally on Earth, since it is highly reactive (though once produced, is coated in a thin layer of oxide which partly masks this reactivity). The free metal burns with a characteristic brilliant white light, making it a useful ingredient in flares. The metal is now mainly obtained by electrolysis of magnesium salts obtained from brine. Commercially, the chief use for the metal is as an alloying agent to make aluminium-magnesium alloys, sometimes called "magnalium" or "magnelium". Since magnesium is less dense than aluminum, these alloys are prized for their relative lightness and strength.
